A Deck Review: Tarot of the White Cats

This is not a deck interview. I may do one of those at some time... this is just my opinion of this deck. What I have done is to select my favorite cards...and my least favorite cards.

This deck is a very cute RW clone. I rather like the cute little cats. And I must say.. I'm not a huge fan of anthropomorphic animals. I generally prefer my creatures to be more creature like. But this is still rather cute.

Favorite cards.

I like The Moon, the Ace of Wands, the Empress, Strength and the Eight of Chalices.
The Moon.
I enjoy the almost playful feel of this moon. The cat lady holds it in her hand between two playful looking dogs. It's just a light-hearted scene.
Ace of Wands
This is just such a catly thing to do. And, that is one smug looking feline.
The Empress
She looks a bit like one of my favorite cat breeds, the Angora. With the playing kittens at her feet, the relaxed recline pose and the matronly look on her face, it is a far different feel than the rather stiff RW lady.
Strength
Out of the mouths of... lions?
Eight of Chalices
I really like the Cat in the Moon. Nice artistic touch.

Least favorite.

The Fool

Yeah, I get it. The Fool is a dog. And his smart little cat friend is a gray tabby... not a white cat. Stick with the theme!

The Wheel

I'm thinking that the artist was going for an allusion to the Fates spinning out our lives. I like the idea. I don't really like the sideways view.

Ace of Swords

It's just 'eh'. A odd choice.

I do like the back of the deck. It was just easy to include it. Cats, bathing happily. Not a common thing.

Cats love Tarot

Both of my cats will, if given a smidgen of a chance, try to sleep on my cards.

Silly creatures.

A Three Card Spread of Want

'Will I get what I want?”
Three card spread, Tarot of the White Cats

A basic question of life. I used a basic but hopefully informative spread. This threecard spread works as follows:
----B
1-2-3

The background card is the Moon. This suggests that the situation is being approached in an intuitive or unconscious manner.

The first card is often read as the past. It can also imply those things that led up to this situation. In this case, it is the 10 of Wands. This card, like all tens, is a card of realized ambitions and work. This one suggests that the 'harvest' is as stressful as the work that went into it.

The second card is the present, or those things which are now at work. In this spread it is Judgment. The tabby angel blows his horn as newly-minted angel cats ascend to Heaven. Of note, the energies of this card are governed by Pluto, god of the Underworld. He is stern but just. It suggests that now is the time for a regrouping. Sit and evaluate your position, what you have achieved and what you hope to achieve. An 'awakening' comes, and with it a possible re-examination of priorities.

The third card is the King of Wands. There is much opportunity to succeed here; and the drive to see it through. Success is dependent on you in this situation. Avoid acting or becoming arrogant or forgetting the ones who helped to set the stage.

A Birthday Celtic Cross

Celtic Cross Spread, Tarot of the White Cats

The Celtic Cross is one of those spreads that everyone does. It's offered in nearly every beginner's guide even though it is a fairly advanced spread-not an easy one for a new-comer to grasp.

That said. It is a good spread, full of information and advice. I read this one on someone's birthday. A gift. A warning. Fun for all ages... even as 29 creeps closer. Any ways. Here is the variant that I used:

B-----------------10
---------5---------9
----3---2/1---4---8
---------6---------7
--------+-----------
There are a few different ways to draw and read the Celtic Cross. People love to change the 'Cross' part around. This one is the one I use. It's pretty much the same thing as the variant on the Biddy Tarot website.
